Why Is Adam Sedgwick Influential?

According to Wikipedia, Adam Sedgwick FRS was a British zoologist and Professor of Zoology and Comparative Anatomy, Imperial College, London, and a great nephew of the renowned geologist Adam Sedgwick. Sedgwick was born in Norwich, Norfolk in 1854, the son of Rev Richard Sedgwick, vicar of Dent, Yorkshire and his wife Mary Jane, daughter of John Woodhouse of Bolton-le-Moors, Lancashire. He was the great-nephew of Rev. Adam Sedgwick . He married Laura, daughter of Captain Robinson of Armagh.
