He specialized in Sasanian seals and rock reliefs, Kushanoo-Sasanian coins and chronology, Mithraic iconography, Arsacid history and pre-Islamic folklore. His written works include book chapters written for the Fischer Weltgeschichte and The Cambridge History of Iran .
