His research focuses on ethnic minorities and role of experts’ communities, mass violence and the politics of memory. Kotljarchuk holds a PhD degree in history from Stockholm University and a candidate of historical science degree from the Russian Academy of Sciences . Currently he is a university lecturer at the Department of History of the Stockholm University and a senior researcher at the School of Historical and Contemporary Studies, Södertörn University.
