She was Professor of Prehistory at Queen's University, Belfast from 2013 and is now emeritus professor. Education and personal life Malone graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in archaeology and anthropology at the University of Cambridge in 1980 , and was awarded a Doctor of Philosophy degree in archaeology by Cambridge in 1986. Her doctoral thesis was titled "Exchange systems and style in the central Mediterranean".
