He is a Canadian historical sociologist who specializes in human rights and social movements including the use of digital tools for research in the humanities and social sciences. He is an Adjunct Professor in the Departments of History, Clasics & Religion and as well as Educational Policy Studies at the University of Alberta and the Department of Sociology and Social Anthropology] at Dalhousie University. He has also been a visiting scholar at the University of Sydney in Australia, Beijing Normal University in China, KU-Leuven University in Belgium, and NUI Galway in Ireland.
