Why Is Edgar Rosenberg Influential?

According to Wikipedia, Edgar Rosenberg was an American scholar and Professor of English and Comparative Literature at Cornell University from 1965 until his retirement in 2002. Early life and education Born to Jewish parents in Fuerth, Germany, Rosenberg fled Nazi Germany for Switzerland and then Haiti in 1939, reaching New York City in 1940. He knew no English. After graduating from high school he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in Europe, receiving a Combat Infantry medal in 1944.
