His father was George Washington Seeler and his mother, Anna Maria Seeler . He graduated from Central High School in 1884. He attended night classes at the Philadelphia Museum and School of Industrial Art. He then graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1890. He then attended the École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts under the tutelage of Victor Laloux from 1890 to 1893.
