She specialized in taxonomic botany. She wrote and illustrated South African Erythrinas , Orchids of Africa with Joyce Stewart, The Slipper Orchids with Tessa Hedge, and created many of the descriptions and plates in Flowering Plants of Africa as well as numerous private collections.
