There she is also Director of the Indigeneity, Race, Ethnicity, and Politics (IREP) Master’s degree program. She was awarded the 2006 Anna Julia Cooper Teacher of the Year Award from the National Conference of Black Political Scientists, and the 2007 Teaching Promise Award from the American Association of University Professors.In 2017 she was also recognized as the Faculty Member of the Year by the UConn chapter of the NAACP.
