Vogt was the author of numerous articles and 19 books. He was a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences , a member of the National Academy of Sciences , a member of the American Philosophical Society , and a recipient of the Order of the Aztec Eagle, the highest honor awarded to foreigners by the Mexican government.
