Biography Dassios was born in 1946, in Patras, Greece, where he attended primary and secondary education. He received his Bachelor's degree from the Department of Mathematics of the University of Athens in 1970 and continued his postgraduate studies at the University of Illinois at Chicago where he received his Master of Science in 1972 and his Ph.D. in 1975 in applied mathematics.
