He rose to prominence during the New Hollywood movement, earning particular acclaim from his collaborations with Martin Scorsese, having starred in six of his films: Who's That Knocking at My Door , Mean Streets , Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore , Taxi Driver , The Last Temptation of Christ , and The Irishman .
