According to Wikipedia, is a retired Japanese mathematician who worked in partial differential equations. He obtained his Ph.D. at the University of Tokyo, under the supervision of Tosio Kato. Mathematical contributions His most widely cited paper, published in 1966, studied the partial differential equationand showed that there is a "threshold" value for which implies the existence of nonconstant solutions which exist for all positive and all real values of the variables. By contrast, if is between and then such solutions cannot exist. This paper initiated the study of similar and analogous phenomena for various parabolic and hyperbolic partial differential equations. The impact of Fujita's paper is described by the well-known survey articles of Levine and Deng & Levine .
