Education Katz earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology and Biochemistry and her Ph.D. in Microbiology from the University of Melbourne. Her 1985 dissertation was titled, The T cell response to influenza virus in the mouse. She completed postdoctoral training in influenza virology.
