He currently works for WBMA-LD , Birmingham's ABC affiliate. Spann has worked in the field since 1978, and is often praised for his easy-to-understand and likely life-saving forecasting during the destructive 2011 Super Outbreak. He is also the host of the weekly podcast WeatherBrains which he started in 2006. He is also a climate skeptic, repeatedly claiming climate change is part of natural cycles, although he has also stated that he is not an expert in that area of the field.
