Grant Association and The Papers of Ulysses S. Grant project from 2008 to 2022. Background and education Marszalek was born in Buffalo, New York. He received his bachelor's degree from Canisius College in 1961. He received a Master's Degree in 1963 and his Ph.D. in 1968, both from the University of Notre Dame.
