Why Is Jouke de Vries Influential?

According to Wikipedia, Professor Jouke de Vries is chairman of the Executive Board of the University of Groningen in The Netherlands. Before that he was Dean of the University of Groningen/Campus Fryslân in Leeuwarden. De Vries grew up in the village of Balk in Friesland and in 1979 started his studies in political science at the University of Amsterdam. He has been working at the group Leaderships Art at the University of Leiden since 1984. De Vries obtained his PhD in 1989 from H. Daudt and H. Daalder on the article he wrote on "Ground Politics" and the educational essay "Cabinet Crisis in the Netherlands".
