According to Wikipedia, Marc Jerome Swartz was an American political and cultural anthropologist specializing in eastern Africa. Born in Omaha, Nebraska, Swartz trained in anthropology in the interdisciplinary Department of Social Relations at Harvard, receiving his PhD in 1958.
