She is senior research scholar of Black Children and Families with Child Trends. Education Sanders received a Bachelor's in Urban Affairs with a concentration in political science from Barnard College/Columbia University in 1987. She received a Master's in Sociology from Stanford University in 1992 and a Ph.D. in Social Sciences, Policy, and Educational Practice from Stanford in 1995.
