Why Is Nicholas Penny Influential?

According to Wikipedia, Sir Nicholas Beaver Penny is a British art historian. From 2008 to 2015 he was director of the National Gallery in London. Early life Penny was educated at Shrewsbury School before he studied English at St Catharine's College, Cambridge. He then studied for a doctorate at The Courtauld Institute of Art in London, where he was taught by Michael Kitson. While a student at the Courtauld, Penny contributed photographs to the Art & Architecture section of the Conway Library collection.
