Why Is Nicole P. Washington Influential?
(Suggest an Edit or Addition)Nicki Washington is currently a Professor of the practice of computer science with Duke University, Durham, NC, USA and the author of “Unapologetically Dope: Lessons for Black Women and Girls on Surviving and Thriving in the Tech.” She previously spent nine years with Howard University as the first Black female Faculty Member in the Department of Computer Science. Her professional experience also includes Winthrop University, The Aerospace Corporation, and IBM. Her research interests include cultural competence, computer science education, and broadening participation in computing. She was the first African American woman to receive the Ph.D. degree in computer science from North Carolina State University, Raleigh, NC, USA and is a 2019 Computer Science Hall of Fame Inductee.
