(Suggest an Edit or Addition)According to Wikipedia, Norman Sheppard FRS was a chemist and expert on the application of vibrational spectroscopy to molecular structure, in solids, on surfaces, in solution and in the gas phase. Biography Norman Sheppard was born at 15 St Hilda Street Hull on 16 May 1921, son of Walter and Anne Clarges . After attending Hymers College from 1930 to 1940, where he developed a liking for physical chemistry, he went up to St Catharine's College, Cambridge in 1940, and graduated in 1943. He studied for his PhD under Gordon Sutherland and was awarded the higher degree in 1947.
