Why Is Oleksandr Sharkovsky Influential?

According to Wikipedia, Oleksandr Mykolayovych Sharkovsky was a Ukrainian mathematician most famous for developing Sharkovsky's theorem on the periods of discrete dynamical systems in 1964. He was a corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR , and academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine . Prize laureate of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine named after M. M. Bogolyubov and M. O. Lavretiev.
