Areeda was a law professor at Harvard University from 1961 until his death in 1995. Life and career Areeda was born in Detroit, Michigan, in 1930. He was of Lebanese ancestry. He studied economics at Harvard University, graduating in 1951 with an A.B. summa cum laude. He then attended the Harvard Law School, becoming an editor of the Harvard Law Review and graduating in 1954 with an LL.B. summa cum laude.
