Education and career Abercrombie has a B.A. from Cambridge University and a Ph.D. from the University of Reading . Following her Ph.D. she worked in California at the Southern California Earthquake Center and at the University of Southern California. After three years in New Zealand at the Institute of Geological and Nuclear Sciences, she went to Harvard University from 1998 to 2001. She joined Boston University in 2001, and became a Research Associate Professor in 2006.
