Early life and education Thatte's father Laxman was a surgeon in the Indian Medical Service and his mother, Kusum Maydeo, was a social worker and short story writer. He studied in several schools in the state of Maharashtra, passed his intermediate science examination from the Willingdon College, Sangli and completed M.B.B.S, and M.S. from Topiwala National Medical College, Mumbai.
