Richard Freiherr von Krafft-Ebing was an Austro-German psychiatrist and author of the foundational work Psychopathia Sexualis .Life Krafft-Ebing was born in 1840 in Mannheim, Germany, studied medicine at the University of Heidelberg, where he specialized in psychiatry.
