According to Wikipedia, Sarsen Amanzholuly Amanzholov , was a noted Turkologist, and one of the pioneers of Kazakh linguistics. He developed the foundations of Kazakh grammar, and helped create the current form of the Cyrillic Kazakh alphabet.
