According to Wikipedia, Thomas McArthur Anderson was a career officer in the United States Army who served as a general in the Spanish–American War and the Philippine–American War. Biography Early life and Civil War Anderson was born in Chillicothe, Ohio, January 22, 1836. He graduated at Mount St. Mary's college in 1855, and attended the Cincinnati School of Law and was admitted to the bar in Cincinnati in 1858. He practiced law at Newport, Kentucky from 1858 to 1861.
