Why Is Walter Stibbs Influential?

According to Wikipedia, Douglas Walter Noble Stibbs FRSE FRAS was a 20th century Australian astronomer and astrophysicist, remembered for his work at St Andrews University where he held the Napier Chair in Astronomy for 30 years.
