Reid has given expert witness testimony on several high-profile legal cases and has contributed to various academic publications. Early life Reid graduated with a B.A. in psychology in 1966 and completed his M.D. medical degree in 1970, both at the University of Minnesota. He undertook a psychiatric residency at the University of California, Davis, between 1970 and 1975, interrupted for military service. He then obtained a Master of Public Health qualification from the University of California, Berkeley in 1975.
