Early life Bosco was born on 24 September 1930 in Samarkand. His mother, Catherine was born in Samara, his father was born in St. Petersburg. Yuri Bosco's father died when Yuri was a child, and his mother moved them to Samara . With the German invasion of Russia in 1941, Bosco's mother sent him to live with her sister in Samarkand. There his early drawings showed talent and his aunt enrolled him in art school.
