According to Wikipedia, Omsk State Transport University is a university in Omsk, Russia. It was established in 1961. History In April 1896, the State Council of the Russian Empire decided to establish the Tomsk Technological Institute . On October 9, 1900, the TTI began training mechanics and construction engineers. A new school was established in July 1930 in Tomsk from two faculties of Tomsk Polytechnic University as the Siberian Institute of Transport Engineers . In 1932, the Novosibirsk Institute of Railway Engineers was created from the track-building faculty, and the SIIT itself was transformed into the Tomsk Electromechanical Institute of Transport Engineers . In 1961, it was transferred to Omsk and renamed Omsk Institute of Railway Engineers . In 1994, the institute was transformed into an academy and in 1997 gained the status of university.
