Pensacola Christian College in Pensacola, Florida, was founded in 1974 with the purpose of providing a liberal arts education in a Christian-based environment where students are encouraged to grow both spiritually and intellectually. The school began with fewer than 100 students under the supervision of Arlin and Beka Horton, but has now grown to almost 5,000 students.

Students at Pensacola can major in a variety of liberal arts programs from accounting to psychology. There are a total of 9 departments and 59 programs of study. True to their mission of fostering Christianity in their students, there are 5 majors specifically geared toward those interested in entering the ministry or related fields: Bible, Bible Background, Biblical Languages, Creation, and Missions.

The cost of attending Pensacola begins at around $21,800 per year. The school does not accept federal or state funding, scholarships, or loans, but does offer their own scholarships and employment opportunities. Students who remain at Pensacola for their entire college careers can also benefit from their Fourth Year Tuition-Free program.

Pensacola sets a high standard for students regarding character, clothing, appearance, entertainment, and social life. Students are required to adhere to a handbook containing strict guidelines for dress, social situations, and interactions with members of the opposite sex. Women are not allowed to wear pants or shorts, and men must keep their hair cut to avoid touching their ears, collars, or eyebrows. All students are expected to uphold traditional Christian values and abstain from promiscuous or immoral behavior whether on or off campus.

While the school is not licensed through the Florida Commission for Independent Education, it is accredited by the Transnational Association of Christian Colleges and Schools (TRACS), and individual programs in nursing and engineering have been accredited by their respective governing boards.

Pensacola offers a wide variety of activities for students to engage in while on campus. Students interested in sports can participate in over 1,000 intramural sporting events per year, and the school plays NCAA basketball, volleyball, and soccer.
