According to Wikipedia, History The University for Development Studies is a public university located in the Northern Region of Ghana. It is consistently ranked as a top 4 university in the country. The university was established in 1992 by the Government of Ghana with a view to accelerating the development of Ghana's north. The northern regions are the Northern Region, Upper East Region and the Upper West Region. The legislative instrument that established the university is the PNDC Law 279. The instrument was gazetted on 15th May, 1992. UDS the fifth public university to be established by Ghana's Government. The University has two main campuses at Nyankpala and Dungu, Tamale.
