Previous to serving at Dartmouth College, Beilock was the eighth president of Barnard College, the undergraduate women's college of Columbia University. As President of Barnard, she was also an academic dean within Columbia University. Beilock spent 12 years at the University of Chicago, departing Chicago as the Stella M. Rowley Professor of Psychology and Executive Vice Provost. She holds doctorates of philosophy in both kinesiology and psychology from Michigan State University.
