In 2025, the top ten schools in our ranking of the best colleges in South Dakota saw a few changes. Augustana University rose three ranking positions as the university started the Launch with Us program, which offers qualifying South Dakota students full tuition, making Augustana more accessible to in-state students who meet specific academic and financial criteria. This initiative is part of the university’s effort to make higher education affordable for local students while encouraging them to remain in the state for college.

Additionally, Augustana continues to modernize its campus facilities, particularly with the renovations in Morrison Commons. Phase II of this project includes updates to dining services, featuring diverse food options, allergen-free areas, and more seating to support a comfortable student environment. The university is also upgrading Tuve Hall to provide improved living spaces with more privacy and flexibility, catering to students’ requests for better housing options. Lastly, the campus will host the National Collegiate Acrobatics & Tumbling Association National Championships in 2025, a notable event that will bring national attention to Augustana and enhance campus culture.
