Why Is Henri Gillet Influential?
(Suggest an Edit or Addition)According to Wikipedia, Henri Antoine Gillet is an American mathematician, specializing in arithmetic geometry and algebraic geometry. Education and career Gillet received in 1974 his bachelor's degree from King’s College London and in 1978 his Ph.D. from Harvard University under David Mumford with thesis Applications of Algebraic K-Theory to Intersection Theory. As a postdoc he was an instructor and from 1981 an assistant professor at Princeton University. He became in 1984 an assistant professor, in 1986 an associate professor, and in 1988 a full professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago, where he was from 1996 to 2001 the head of the department of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. He was a visiting scholar at the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research , the Institute for Advanced Study , the IHES , in Barcelona, at the Fields Institute in Toronto and at the Isaac Newton Institute .
