    Dr. James Barham’s answer: This will vary based on the institution but typically internships are facilitated through institutional support, career services, and businesses that are partnered with the program. There might be some programs where the burden of finding an internship is placed on the student. My suggestion is to reach out to your faculty advisor or the program coordinator to see what kinds of support you will receive in finding internships. They should also be able to tell you what kind of businesses the program is partnered with.

    Eden asks, “What specific career services are offered to graduates of online master’s programs in NY to help them secure positions in New York’s industry?”

    Dr. Jed Macosko’s answer: I would look into what your specific school gives in terms of support, but most will have a career service center where career coaches can give you personalized guidance in regards to career planning and advice. They should also be able to help you optimize your resume and LinkedIn profile, as well as connect you with alumni networks and industry-specific events and panels. Many universities will also be connected with companies in the industry and can help you meet prospective employers.

    Dr. James Barham’s answer: Yes, many schools do. While many schools have career fairs, schools in New York should also have tech-specific career fairs where students can explore job opportunities and get to know various companies. With some of the more well known schools, tech companies might send representatives to the school to find recruits. Some schools even have virtual mentorship pairings where schools will pair students up with industry professionals.
