While there were no changes in the 2025 ranking of the best liberal arts colleges in California, a number of the top schools in our ranking made significant changes to their program for this school year.

UC Berkeley has launched the “L&S Futures” project, aiming to redesign general education requirements for students. The initiative focuses on integrating interdisciplinary approaches and fostering critical thinking skills.

Caltech has enhanced its liberal arts offerings by strengthening partnerships with 13 select liberal arts colleges through its 3/2 Dual Degree Program. This initiative allows students to earn two bachelor’s degrees in five years, combining a liberal arts education with Caltech’s rigorous science and engineering programs.
